Our stay in Nihiwatu, Sumba has been one huge tropical bliss. Literally high on life 24/7. Like your mind and body can't capture the beauty you're in and you feel amazed, wowed, blessed, thankful, emotional, happy, excited all at the same time. Crazy.
One of the highlights of our Nihiwatu stay was our 'Nihi Oka Spa Safari'. A full day experience in the magical Nihi Oka valley, surrounded by wild coastlines, private beaches and countless coconut trees reaching high up to the sky. It is absolutely the dreamiest place, we've ever seen!
The journey usually starts with a 90-minute trek along breathtaking scenery's, rice paddies and local villages. As we we're out surfing the whole morning (see our Nihiwatu Surf photo diary here!), we decided to take the offer to drive in the safari jeep towards the valley for lunch and an afternoon spa bliss.
On arrival we we're welcomed by the beautiful -and always smiling- team of Nihi Oka and got to choose our treatments. From full body massage, body scrubs, foot reflexology, head massages, wrappings, etc. After that we we're guided to the 'Tree House'. Our private lunch platform overlooking the rough waves of the Indian Ocean (we saw turtles, yay!) where we had an incredible barbecue lunch. Absolutely delicious, healthy and prepared with all local ingredients. At the Tree House there is this breathtaking view, tropical private pool and beach and the option to snooze here, or in a private bale up on the hill all day (can we go back here already please!). After that it was time for our treatments.
No words can explain how incredible this and this place is. We even heard honeymooners or other lovebirds can also stay a night at the private Nihi Oka bamboo house on the hill. Ehm, goals! Waking up with a private morning yoga session and enjoying breakfast underneath the coconut trees.
Enjoy our photo diary and we've added a video by the Nihiwatu team, so you can get a glimpse of the experience!
How incredible is our ride! The jeep is very much needed with the roads in Sumba
Stopped on the way, where Tinus and the driver showerd us this amazing panoramic view over the Indian Ocean
So much to see on the road. We spotted this Albino horse! And this sweet Sumbanese lady
Touched base at NihiOka, entering paradise.
Look at all these coconut trees, insane!
The path towards the Tree House for lunch
The private pool at the Tree House. Isn't it the dreamiest place you've ever seen? Our private lunch spot. Incredible, and we saw a huge sea turtle in the bay playing in the waves. Beetroot cakes, SO good!! The view on the private beach next to our lunch platform.
Arrived at the bamboo reception of NihiOka, how cute is this!
Unlimited Spa treatments... enough said.
Welcomed with a cold coconut and the sweet team of NihiOka. Getting freshed up for our lunch, before surrendering to the spa oase. Could not stop gazing up... Time for our treatments!
