When we're traveling to new parts of the Indian Ocean we're always on the hunt for those hiddem gems. When we went to Lombok last month, we found Dome Village in Gerupuk on the South-East coast. Wow is an understatement!
Dome Lombokis a secluded oasis of nine domes located on the hilltop, overlooking two bays and white sand beach. The view took our breath away and the sunsets were so magical, that we will never ever forget them. An oasis of serenity, we couldn't wish for a more perfect stay to completely unwind.
To build these unique adobe Domes houses the founders joined a special (earth bag) course in California to understand about this Dome construction. The goal was to create something sustainable combined with a little luxury. Well, that worked out pretty well we can say!
We stayed in the Tanju Dome, a deluxe model with spacious outside area and rooftop terrace. Including a kitchen, nice seating area and stunning bathroom and space for four people inside.
The resort also has a shared pool, sunset rooftop terrace and amazing farm-to-table concept restaurant, serving delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And for us as surfers the best part: Dome Lombok is only five minutes away to all Gerupuk's surf spots. Early morning surf sessions and again for sunset, Lombok is surfer paradise!Gerupuk has five different breaks for all surf levels. You can choose for the Inside (all levels), Don Don (beginner/advanced), Outside right (intermediate/advanced) Outside left (advanced) or Kidspoint (beginner/intermediate).
You can go by boat to get to the surf breaks, we can recommend going together with a guide first to explore these Lombok waves. Book your surf lessons with Lombok Wave!
Before we talk more, photos and videos speak louder than words. We truly enjoyed our stay and time in Lombok at Dome.Enjoy our photo diary of our stay and let us know if you are going to visit Lombok or Dome as well!
